I would imagine all our So’mace fans also love Apartment Therapy so perhaps some of you have already seen this. But i just think it’s hands down, one the most absolutely adorable “cottages” i’ve ever seen. It brings to life, for me, the very essence and idea of “collecting”. Collecting random pieces you randomly fall in love with, with no worry about whether or not they’ll match or work with everything else you already have. If you love it, grab it and go with it because ultimately, everything will eventually fall into place.

Had to share this from Design*Sponge because it’s just such a delightful mix of white and color! I think we’ve all seen about a million white kitchens, but this one feels unique for some reason – perhaps because they didn’t use marble on the counter top, or white subway tiles, or a farmhouse sink, or the typical polished nickel bin pulls…

Today is renowned architect, furniture and textile designer Josef Frank’s 125th birthday! Although he is not alive today, his works of art and fabrics are still celebrated around the world. Josef Frank is one of my most favorite designers, whose design sense and style will forever inspire me. His sense of play, color and pattern evoke such a happiness i hope you each can relate to in some way also…
In honor of this day Google Austria made a special Josef Frank doodle, love it!

“Producing over 200 patterns between 1909 and 1950, Frank’s designs defied contemporary sensibilities by offering a welcome contrast to the linear, grid-like restrictions that defined modernism, the Bauhaus and others. “Every human needs a certain degree of sentimentality to feel free,” Frank said… “Away with the universal styles, away with the equalization of industry and art.” And therein lies his magic–patterns that are almost architectural in their generous scale, that show an affection for craft and reconcile seemingly disparate historic traditions and modern invention.”

Just love this cozy little bathroom i saw on Desire to Inspire today…how yummy and relaxing! Are any of you afraid to use a color like chocolate on walls? Just remember, the darker, the more dramatic and often pulled together a space can look and feel…even though it might be a little scary at first! You can always have fun with little rooms too, so don’t be afraid to go a little crazy if you feel like it.

Meandered across this very cool boutique hotel called Hotel Basico in Mexico, via the fabulous Aubrey Road blog. It’s so industrious and urban in design but completely feels like it fits perfectly with its surroundings and the feeling of rest and relaxation. Would love to check this place out in person someday!
P.S. how cute is this pool below (or hot tub?)
