So'mace Lifestyle
Just wanted to share some new shots of the showroom! Ed and i completely rearranged the floor and it always amazes me how drastically the feel changes. Just love it!
We had Sunset Magazine come in this morning for a photo shoot, which was equally as exciting. Debbie of Designs By Hemingway came in yesterday and adorned the showroom with some beautiful flower arrangements. Friends and family have all pitched in as well to help make this a successful shoot. Keep an eye out for Kaypee and the store in the September issue…
Happy 4th everyone, hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Highlights
I love this room from Modern Luxury’s Riviera Interiors magazine. The art piece is by the late artist Birjir Andresson and i just love the feel it gives – of space, color, simplicity, the ocean.
There is very little about this artist online, but this paragraph caught my eye, and thought it would be fun to share.
“The ‘Icelandic Colours’ are one of the strangest and most contradictory subjects in Birgir’s art and, like so many of his themes, turn up again and again in different contexts. In his text-paintings the text appears on a solid field of colour which is identified in a caption in the corner: “Colours: Icelandic Pantone 173, Icelandic Pantone 533.” To begin with this was perhaps just characteristic irony, making fun of pseudo-national trends in interior decoration. Later, however, these colours later became a sort of signature that Birgir could use to put his mark on almost any subject he chose.”
I’ve always thought of Iceland as evoking simplicity and intensity, this art does the same…

There’s something about this room at the Yves Saint Laurent villa in Morocco…reads very island however. Love the rattan chairs.

Finds
We all know how much Kaypee loves and respects the work of industrial designer Russel Wright. We worked profoundly through the late 20’s through 60’s and produced some of the most beautiful and highly purchased ceramic dinnerware in history. I was selecting paint colors based on Wright’s own palette and Kaypee sent these along for inspiration…which of course i just had to share!

(See here for more palettes)

I love this silver/white looking palm tree behind the sofa, where on earth did they find it?! The silver jar on the floor is beautiful too, and the herringbone wood floor! The pattern on the floor does make the sofa look small i think (scale of the floor is much larger than the scale of the sofa) but still adore the combo. Love also the hint of pale seaglass on the chair…
