Erin at House of Turquoise had a fun image of a Jonathan Adler room yesterday, and in it he had some LeRoy Nieman plates on the wall, which i loved. So i went to his site and found this fabulous piece of Waikiki and Diamond Head. It’s $5k but i still want one!

And i would still have this Kaypee Soh, “Back In the Day” in the same house…! A wild collection of Hawaii themed prints would be such a dream…

I would imagine all our So’mace fans also love Apartment Therapy so perhaps some of you have already seen this. But i just think it’s hands down, one the most absolutely adorable “cottages” i’ve ever seen. It brings to life, for me, the very essence and idea of “collecting”. Collecting random pieces you randomly fall in love with, with no worry about whether or not they’ll match or work with everything else you already have. If you love it, grab it and go with it because ultimately, everything will eventually fall into place.

Hi everyone!
Check out the new digital July issue of Alaska Airlines magazine. They have an article on small condo living (starts on page 59) and i’m quoted several times. Kaypee will be out soon in the American Way flight magazine and Sunset is coming tomorrow for a photo shoot! Yay for all the West Coast love! Fun to see So’mace getting around!

I love this room from Modern Luxury’s Riviera Interiors magazine. The art piece is by the late artist Birjir Andresson and i just love the feel it gives – of space, color, simplicity, the ocean.
There is very little about this artist online, but this paragraph caught my eye, and thought it would be fun to share.
“The ‘Icelandic Colours’ are one of the strangest and most contradictory subjects in Birgir’s art and, like so many of his themes, turn up again and again in different contexts. In his text-paintings the text appears on a solid field of colour which is identified in a caption in the corner: “Colours: Icelandic Pantone 173, Icelandic Pantone 533.” To begin with this was perhaps just characteristic irony, making fun of pseudo-national trends in interior decoration. Later, however, these colours later became a sort of signature that Birgir could use to put his mark on almost any subject he chose.”
I’ve always thought of Iceland as evoking simplicity and intensity, this art does the same…
